 Various agencies in Kittitas County have contacted the Retired and
Senior Volunteer Program with volunteer opportunities. Take a look
through the list to see if you can lend a hand.

 

Food Co-op Bookkeeper is requested to help them set up their books and give them instructions. 
The volunteer will not be the bookkeeper, but give them step by step advice on the set up.

Alley Cat Artists are looking for volunteers to help with a large fund raiser bulk mailer project. Volunteer can help anytime with stuffing, applying labels and stamps.Project to be completed around Dec 12th. Please call Sarah at 925-2005 to help.

Kittitas County Head Start/ECEAP requests volunteers to help with the move into their new facility in around December 19th. Volunteers will assist with packing and moving classroom supplies and equipment, furniture and office supplies from Kittitas to Ellensburg. They are also looking for volunteers who can donate and drive their trucks, trailers, and moving vans. Please contact Kim at 968-4050 for futher information.

The Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce office is looking for a volunteer to work at the front desk 2-6 hours a week. The time can be flexible for the volunteer. Volunteers will greet the public, answer the phone and share information about our area. Please call Roylene at 509-925-2002 or email

The Kittitas County Health Department is looking for volunteers to help with office tasks and projects. For example; folding brochures, computer data entry, putting together and distributing packets, posting flyers, installing mosquito traps and other projects. The Chimpanzee and Human Communication Institute (CHCI) located at C.W.U. has openings in our DOCENT PROGRAM. CHCI is a sanctuary for three chimpanzees-Tatu, Dar, and Loulis-who have acquired signs of American Sign Language and use those signs in conversations with one another and their human companions. Docents volunteer during our CHIMPOSIUMS-educational workshops for the public – during the week or on weekends. Applications are being accepted now. Gallery One has announced volunteer openings including greeters/docents, helping set up the new exhibits, participating in the Gallery’s role in Ellensburg events such as Jazz in the Valley, Paint Ellensburg, The Ellensburg Wine Festival, and First Fridays. People who have a special love for children and their art are invited to be teaching assistants in the Community School of the Arts. The role of these volunteers is ideal for artists, or those who have dreamed of being an artist. Please contact Volunteer Coordinator Nancy, 509.797.5401, for information.

Patient Assistance Program
Assist low income patients, referred by physicians, to determine what medications can be acquired through pharmaceutical companies. Some computer skills required. Knowledge of medical terminology helpful. Monday or Wednesday ~ 1 - 3 pm

Other positions available include Courtesy Desk Mondays 12 noon -4pm and or Fridays 8am-12 noon: Surgery Out Patient Desk Tues. 7:30am-12:30 pm: Patient Care on Mondays 10am-2pm.
Also looking for a licensed cosmetologist to help cancer patients with makeup tips. This is for the Look Good-Feel Good program with the American Cancer Society. Please contact Karen at 509-962-7322

The Ellensburg Meals on Wheels program is looking for a regular volunteer to deliver meals on Tuesday and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 12 noon in the Ellensburg area. If interested call Kathleen at 933-3333 or 929-0692.
Olmstead Place State Park is requesting volunteers to catalog and label historical items at the 1907 farmhouse. No experience is necessary and you set the schedule! Volunteers will be trained by park staff. Please call Brandon at 509-925-1943

The Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce/Economic Development Department is looking for volunteers for the SCORE program. SCORE=Service Corps of Retired Executives. Habitat for Humanity has volunteer opportunities for individuals 16 and over year round! Whether you want to get involved in the actual construction of a home (NO experience required) on a Saturday, volunteer in the office weekdays, or help out with the amazing new Habitat Store, we need YOU!!! The FISH Food bank is in need of soup kitchen volunteers-cooks, assistant cooks, and servers. The soup kitchen operates Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Cooks are needed from 9:00 am until approximately 1:00 pm. Servers volunteer from 11:00 am through 1:00 pm.


The Kittitas County Historical Museum is looking for volunteers to staff the front desk. Duties include greeting the public, answering the phone and visitor questions. Volunteers should be available for 2 hours per week. Hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 4:00pm. For more information, please call 925-3778.

Volunteers are needed at the Children’s Activity Museum, 118 E 4th. Street. If you are interested in greeting families and interacting with children, please consider volunteering your time at the museum. The Museum is also looking for volunteers to help with woodworking and handyman projects. We are open Wed. through Sat. from 10:00-5:00 and volunteer hours are flexible during those times. Hope Source needs volunteers for their food bank program on Mondays from 12 pm to 4:30 pm and Wednesday 9am to 12pm and 1pm to 4:30 pm. Volunteers would need to commit to a minimum of 3 hours per week per month for at least 4 months service. Duties include greeting clients, helping with food shopping and carry out, stocking and cleaning. Other hours and days are available for bulk food repacking, stocking, cleaning and card board disposal. Kittitas County Friends of Animals needs volunteers to foster animals in their home, transport animals to rescues on the west side, man informational tablings at local stores (in Ellensburg and Cle Elum), help trap and transport feral (wild) cats to local vets for altering, deliver food to needy people, and help with regular cleaning and loving of our cats at our 2 foster shelters. Rototiller and Chipper Minor Repair volunteer for the Community Garden is needed.  Volunteer can work on the nimor repairs and maintenance over the winter months.  There are funds to pay for the parts.  If you can help, please call Sue at 962-4169
